Karen R. Bowman, 63, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:12 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Karen was born June 4, 1955 in Northwood, N.D., but spent most of her life in Billings, MT. The daughter of Owen O. and Patricia M. O’Brien Hanson, she married Wes Bowman on July 5, 1975 in Billings, MT. He survives. She is also survived by three daughters, Angelia Bowman of Alexandria, VA, Amanda (Ames) Molsberry of Iowa City, IA and Sara Bowman of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Molly, Graysen and Ryan Molsberry; five siblings, JoAnn Berry of Billings, MT, Owen (Danguole) Hanson of Waterloo, NE, Joyce (Dave Powell) Hanson of Willoughby, OH, Judith Hanson of Huntsville, AL and Renee Hanson of Billings, MT; her mother-in-law, Mae Glasgow of Billings, MT and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She had deep affection for friends she loved as family including Adam Hemphill of Washington, D.C. and Jacquelyn Frank of Charleston, IL. She was known to many as simply Mama Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lila Duschner and her father-in-law, Colin Glasgow. Karen graduated from Billings West High School and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Billings Business College. She worked in Accounts Payable at Sam Leman Ford/Toyota. Karen enjoyed many things including sewing, cooking, baking special birthday cakes for her family, gardening, travel, and being outside. Mostly, she just enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank Dr. Pramern Sriratana & the staff at Mid Illinois Hematology & Oncology Associates for their kindness and compassion for Karen.
