Nancy Newell

Nancy Newell

Nancy Newell, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lous A. Newell, Billings, Mont., was killed Thursday when the car she was driving was in a collision with a truck.

Nancy was returning to Billings from Red Lodge, Mont., where she had been employed as a ski instructor.  She had completed her first year at Montana State University in Bozeman.

The Newells are former Columbus, Nebraska residents and Nancy was born there.  Surviving, at the time, were her parents and a brother, Mark, a student at Rice University in Houston, Tex.

Funeral Services are to be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Billings.  The family suggests memorials to Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital, in care of Don Peterson, local Shrine treasurer.

Nancy was the first friend I ever lost.  She died in a one car rollover not long out of high school.  She was so vibrant and full of life.  She had an eye for unique and cutting edge fashion to match her wild hair and personality.  She was fearless and had a contagious laugh.  Way, way too soon to lose such a beauty.

Nancy was also the first friend I ever lost. What a special person she was! She always had a smile, a great laugh, and was nice to everyone. I've frequently thought of you over the years. So sad we lost you so young.

RIP Nancy!

Too young to be taken from us.  Such a bright spot in our lives.  Her funeral haunts me to this day.
