In Memory

Pamela Duff (Gabel)

Pamela Jo Gabel, born January 23, 1955, in Billings, MT, peacefully passed away on June 2 in Billings after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Pamela, fondly known as Pam, was a proud graduate of Billings West High School in 1973. She began her working life delivering newspapers before transitioning to LaBelle's as a store clerk. In 1974, she married her sweetheart, Everett Gabel, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that lasted over 50 years. Together, they started farming on the west end of Billings, establishing deep roots in the community.

For 28 years, Pam dedicated her talents to Johnson Radio and Sound, serving as the friendly face at the front desk and as a meticulous bookkeeper. Following this chapter, she spent the last 18 years of her career at Riverstone Health as a medical coder, where she formed lasting friendships.

Pam had a zest for life that extended beyond her professional endeavors. An avid reader, she found solace and joy in the pages of a good book. She was a talented pianist and enjoyed learning new songs. She also had a passion for cinema, enjoying the magic of great movies, especially watching her favorite movie, “The Christmas Story”, over and over again during Christmas time. Her culinary skills were legendary, and she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Pam's unwavering support for her family and the farm was a testament to her loving nature.

Pam was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eric, her parents, Dudley and Marlys Duff, and her in-laws Floyd and Elsie Gabel. She is survived by her devoted husband, Everett, and cherished son, Greg. She is also survived by her brother Doug, sister Becky (Bob), Everett's siblings Gloria (Ron) and Floyd (Myra) and their families.

A funeral service to celebrate Pam's life will be held at the Smith West Chapel on Tuesday June 11, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Breakthrough T1D, formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (https://www.breakthrought1d.org/).

Pam will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her kindness, warmth, and infectious smile will forever live on in our hearts.
