I didn't know Mike Runkle well in high school, but he friended me on FB some years ago. Attending our 50th reunion must have been a challenge given that he'd recently lost a foot to diabetic neuropathy and was in a wheelchair. A few weeks later, he messaged me, thanking me for taking time to chat with him at the reunion. "I felt like I was invisible," he said. "You were the only person who spoke to me." How well I remember ignoring people who weren't in my crowd back in those days. I truly regret it and had hoped that 50 years later we were all past that. Anyway, Mike passed away a few days ago. I think he leaves behind one brother, Tim. Maybe take a moment today and say hello to a former classmate, even one you didn't know well. Best wishes to you all.

What a funny guy Phil Houtz was. He was so good at arguing a point that one kid "retained" Phil to act as his lawyer in traffic court. I haven't seen him since high school, but I've never forgotten his hutzpa and sh**ty grin! Happy trails, Phil.
